Now it is possible to run the emulator at native speeds on a Mac but there is some work to do by hand.įirst you need the latest SDK Tools rev.19+ and Platform tools rev.11+, the Android x86 Atom System Image for 4.0.3 to 4.4 and the Intel Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (HAX) all this from the Android SDK Manager.Īfter this you need to install HAX, unfortunately the SDK Manager downloads an outdated version. On the latest version of the Android SDK there is support for x86 and native execution.

I'm using a Macbook Pro 2010 on Mac OS X Lion. I placed in more 'RAM' into the virtual device but nothing changes. You will also have a little wait time for the android emulator, mine takes about 7minsĪndroid emulator laggy on Mac First of all, yes I know there's a lot of topics similar to this issue, I did use the search function on stack overflow.īut most of the issue that were brought up seems to about long boot times.įor me, the emulator is so slow, simply sliding from one home screen to another is like watching a slideshow. Also, try a different tablet from the Android Studio settings e.g(Nexus 6), as the API level might not be supported from in the Nexus5 VM. For an intel chip use the "APIs Intelx86 Atom system image".

If you're using an AMD machine try using the "ARM EABI v7 system image". I have tried that by checking the button and works fine. In my case also x86 was creating problem, I installed Android 5.0.1 armeabi-v7a and have set 768MB as RAM size and it worked.

I've found that it runs full speed on my machine and is just as fast in debug mode as normal mode, which is impressive since even my Nexus 5 struggles when connected to a debugger. Instead of emulation it runs an Android rom in a VM using VirtualBox. I only recently discovered it and found it to be much much faster than the emulator. My current rep is not high enough yet to comment on another answer, so I am adding a new "answer" to +1 Paresh Mayani's answer to use Genymotion.

But it depends on your configuration of your PC and settings you have done in Eclipse or Android Studio.įor example: You may have kept "Build Automatically" ON and it sometimes slow down running time. I know it sometimes take time to launch emulator and launch app in emulator too. How about to use Rock speed Emulator - Genymotion? Therefore I'd suggest continuing to decrease the RAM values and trying to launch it. I was facing the exact same issue, but for me reducing the device RAM to 768 did fix it.

I came across a few posts that said to give the device 768 ram, but that didn't work. When I close Android studio it asks me if I want to disconnect from the project so I'm sure it is running. I tried switching the cpu back to ARM, but it still doesn't work. Now when I run a project it takes me to the emulator selection screen and when I select it, the project starts running, but the emulator doesn't pop up.

I changed the settings in my emulator (ARM to intel atom). Coming to the OS and studio works better on UBUNTU, LINUX etc instead on windows and using and if u don't have enough RAM u can use pend-drive as ReadyBoost.Īndroid Studio Emulator not starting Because the emulator was really slow I installed the intel x86 emulator. Can anybody suggest where next to look?Īndroid studio requires a good integration of hardware as well as OS to run properly running emulator see how munch RAM does it takes run emulator during installation of emulator and use a low quality of emulator first because both android studio and emulator requires different memory space. for the emulator and different resolutions and refresh rates on my Windows 2008 R2 workstation but nothing works. I have tried numerous different combinations of device, API, resolution, wiping data, running the emulator from the command line, RAM et. Now when I try to run the AVD emulator it gets stuck on the android logo and continually refreshes the screen with a white flash, which looks like it is in synch with the logo refreshing, but doesn't get any further.

AVD emulator stuck on logo - android I have been using Eclipse and then Android Studio to develop a small app and it all (including the emulator) seemed to go reasonably well, until downloading the latest updates for Android Studio.
